Did you know there are blue bumble bees? Ever since I saw them, I’ve wanted to stitch them with some flowers and honeycomb. The honeycomb is stitched as needlelace done in a variation of the pea stitch. The bees have turkey work abdomens and fused organza stump-work wings. The fancy daisies are cast-on petals with bullion centers and are tacked with a knotted lazy daisy. I’ve randomly added 4mm Swarovski bicone topaz mix crystals to the honeycomb.

This is an advanced kit and it includes:

Size # 1,3, 5,7 milliner needles, tapestry needle, beading needle, needle threader, invisible thread, Sz 4mm bicone crystal beads for honey (I used one package of 30 Swarovski 4mm bicone crystals in a topaz mix), small oval hoop and a 6" round hoop, wire cutters, small scissors, fine black metallic thread.
