unpainted linen-blend fabric. He is sitting in the grass

Pulled Thread Sampler – 2675
Price: $16.00
|
Seven different pulled thread stitches
within a 5" x 7" rectangle. These filling
stitches can be used as parts of a background
for a B.E. design, but here they are used alone
as a sampler. Texture is the effect, and each
stitch creates a different one. They could be
done in color, but that would change the whole
effect from texture to color. Here is a chance
to learn lots of pulled thread stitches that
you could use on other even-weave linen
projects. It might be nice to use a light
color such as tan to do the outline stitches
around each block.
Design: 5" x 7"
Fabric Size: 9" x 11" 25-count even-weave linen
Threads Needed: 1 ball of ecru #8 pearl cotton,

Try an easy, new stitch for outlines;
the Mediterranean double knotted stitch. This
stitch has been used for centuries by women in
the Mediterranean countries for lace and
flowers, but it also is wonderful as an outline
stitch. Yes, it is a new stitch, but it is easy
enough for beginning stitchers, and it is
combined with some simple flowers and leaves
for a pretty design.

Temari with Brazilian Flowers – 2677
Price: $5.00
|
Temari - a traditional Japanese art
form of making wrapped and embroidered balls.
These Temari are beautiful embellished with
Brazilian embroidery flowers, which we will
add later. This class will concentrate on the
basics of wrapping the balls, dividing the
balls, and a traditional 4-point design
stitched in herringbone stitch. I suggest you
use Perlé cotton because it handles much more
easily for this stitching, but you may choose
to use Lola. You will see how simple it is to
add Brazilian embroidery when the Temari is
finished.
Design: 2.5" x 3" ball
Fabric Size: N/A
Threads Needed: From 2 to 6 colors or shades of #5 Perlé
cotton or Lola. It’s good to have light, medium, and dark
of a color, and can include black or white.
Candlelight or similar metallic is also good to use.
For flowers, bring Iris and Glory flower and leaf colors.
If you have a specific background color desired, use a cone
of serger thread in that color.
Other Supplies Needed: #20 or similar darner that will
hold #5 Perle cotton or Lola, about 3 dozen glass headed
pins in at least 2 colors for marking.
